MACROPHYTE PRODUCTIVITY ASSESSMENT OF KHUMANPAT LAKE, MANIPUR, NORTHEAST INDIA

Abstract

The primary productivity of the macrophytes in Khumanpatlake indicated that Alternanthera philoxeroides recorded highest daily net primary productivity with values of 0.07 to 1.85 g–2 day–1 followed by Echinochloa stagnina (0.08 to 1.76 g–2 day–1), Ceratophyllum demersum (0.06 to 1.64g–2 day–1), Eichhornia crassipe s (0.07 to 0.78 g–2 day–1) and Hydrilla verticillata (0.03 to 0.56 g–2 day–1) respectively. The daily net production of all species (combined) varied from 0.02 to 6.20 g–2 day–1. The monthly net production of all species (combined) varied from 0.84 to 173.82 g–2 month–1. The total annual net production of all species (combined) varied from 583.57 to 728.52 g–2yr–1.
