POTENTIAL OF MUNICIPAL SEWAGE SLUDGE FOR THE REMOVAL OF HEAVY METAL IONS FROM POLLUTED WATERWAYS

Ahmad Ashfaq

Abstract

Natural materials or waste products from certain industries with a high capacity for heavy metals can be obtained, employed and disposed of with little cost. The process of biosorption has been regarded as an effective technology for the removal of soluble heavy metals from aqueous solution. Langmuir and Freundlich models are the most common isotherms for correlating biosorption experimental data though other isotherms. Pseudo-first and second-order rate expressions have been used for studying the biosorption of heavy metals from aqueous solutions.
