SOLID-WASTE POLLUTION GOING UNNOTICED IN THE CITY OF MORBI, INDIA

Abstract

In the current world, manufacturing and processing industry is growing rapidly. This has increased the production of fine industrial waste by-products which has reached alarming proportions. Industrial waste, if kept untreated for years, often threatens development and the survival of mankind. Some wastes contain toxic substances whereas some dust inhaled in the lungs is carcinogenic. The paper is a study of the solid-waste pollution of Morbi city located in Saurashtra region of Gujarat, India. It discusses the impact of tile sludge or scrap on human health, which is produced during the polishing process of manufacture of vitrified and ceramic polished tiles.
