Abstract
The aim of the present study is to analyze the Physico- chemical parameters of ground water and to asses the quality of ground water using water quality index for Hosur block, Krishnagiri District, Tamil Nadu, India. The study area has been categorized into four zones namely, agricultural, residential, industrial and institutional and five water samples were collected from each zone. The samples were analyzed as per APHA Standard methods. The results obtained were compared with, ISI, ICMR and WHO Standards. The results of the study reveal that most of the physico chemical parameters in the study area are within the permissible limits. Water quality index suggests that water is suitable for domestic purposes.
