Abstract

Due to urbanization and industrialization, various contaminants are added to water sources through waste discharge resulting in the gradual degradation of water quality. The heavy metals are one type of toxic elements and are mostly released from industrial effluents. A study was conducted on industrial effluents and ground water of Sitapura Industrial Area, Jaipur for heavy metals contamination. Samples of industrial effluents from different industries in the area, mixed effluent and ground water in the area were collected and were analyzed for heavy metals contamination. The results indicated the higher concentration of Cr, Zn and Fe metals in industrial effluent as well as in some ground water samples.
