Abstract
Haematological aspects among a small population exposed to environmental lead in Kolkata, India were studied. Haemoglobin content, RBC and WBC counts and PCV were markedly reduced. The values were inversely proportional to the blood lead levels. The present results indicate that environmental lead interference with haern synthesis, which leads to haematological damage like normochromic microcytic anaemia.
