Abstract
The tannery effluent isolates A.n iger and A. flame were screened for their ability to produce tannase during solid state culture (SSF) using agricultural residue sorghum straw. Among the two isolates, Aflame recorded snore extracellular (40.5 U/tnL), intracellular (051 U/mL) tannase activity over the other isolate A. niger which shows extrarell War U7.8 U/nal..) and intracellular (0.061 U/mL) tarmase. The safety of both the organisms were determined in terms of potential aflatoxin production. The A. niger shows aflatoxin AFTB, production 35 ppb whereas the other isolate A. flame shows aflatoxin AFTEI, 235 pik per 10 gm of fermented material. Sincc there is true public health risk associated with aflatoxin contaminated food, both the organism's enzyme cannot be used directly for food industries. But can be used for reducing the tannin content of animal feed complement sorghum straw.
