Abstract
Comparison of natural plant and callus extracts of Bacopa monnieri(L.) was studied against four bacteria and two fungi for their antimicrobial activity using cup plate method. Various solvents such as petroleum ether, chloroform, ethanol and distilled water were used. The callus was initiated on MS-medium supplemented with a-Naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) and kinetin (K.n). The result reveals that the stem and leaf callus has shown significant activity against the tested microorganisms than the natural sample. The chloroform extract of stem callus has very good inhibitory activity against Escherichia coli than that of standard. The distilled water extract of leaf callus has shown significant activity against Pseudotnonas aeruginosa, when compared to the standard. Similarly, the leaf callus has also shown good inhibitory activity against Aspergillus flavus in chloroform extract.
