NEW RECORD OF THE BRIDLED JAWFISH, OPISTOGNATHUS NIGROMARGINATUS RUPPELL, 1830 FROM CUDDALORE, TAMIL NADU, INDIA

Abstract

A specimen of the Bridled Jawfish, Opistognathus nigromarginatus was recorded with total length (TL): 220 mm and standard length (SL): 185 mm from Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, India. Based on the earlier literatures, it is found that it is the first documented report of this species from this region. The details of morphometric and meristic data of this specimen with diagnostic characters are presented in this paper.
