Abstract
The aspects of the study involved vermicomposting of cane trash, press mud and bagasse using a mixed population of epigeal species of earthworms. During composting peak temperatures were attained between 12 to 14 days followed by a lowering of temperatures to amibient range subsequently. The population and weight of earthworms were highest in press mud treatment followed by cane trash and bagasse, without much difference in pH, C:N ratio and COD compost from pressmud was richer in N and P and for each raw material vermicompost was richer in these nutrients. The micronutrient content of composts did not exhibit variation among raw materials.
