Abstract
It is challenging to supply the protein needs of the worldâs rapidly expanding population using sources from both plants and animals. In addition to insects, other options like algae, fungi, in vitro meat, and other single cell protein sources were researched. Insects among them appear to be more environmentally friendly, require less financial investment, and use less technology during production. As a result, eating insects as food can be a different way to get protein. It has advantages for animals as well as people, and it can be fed to poultry and fish. It is affordable, healthy for the environment, and nourishing. In the global food programmes, insect meals are becoming more important. The current ongoing studies and next research could highlight the importance of entomophagyâs potential in the food security sector.
