Abstract
The present study was carried to check the effect of 6-Benzylaminopurine (6-BAP) on the field and postharvest life of pak choi, an underutilized vegetable crop, which was cultivated during rabi season of 2022- 23. Pak choi seeds of the variety ââ¬ËTai Saiââ¬â¢ was procured and sown in seedling trays. After their germination, at 2-3 leaves stage the seedlings were transplanted in the main field with a spacing of 30 x 30 cm. The growth regulator 6-BAP in form of aqueous solution at seven different concentrations viz. 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 & 60 ppm, was provided as foliar applications twice at a gap of 10 days. For every concentration of 6- BAP application, 3 replications were maintained following a randomized block design (RBD) for the experiment. At growth stages, parameters like leaf length and number, plant diameter and height were documented at multiple times. After harvesting the yield was brought to the laboratory of the Department and further attributes like physiological loss of weight, chlorophyll and titratable acidity were noted at different intervals of storage. From the entire experiment it was observed that, the cytokinin based growth regulator helped in influencing the field and storage-based parameters of pak choi in a positive manner and to specify further the 6-BAP at a concentration of 10 ppm was found most appropriate for both the cases.
