Abstract
Aqueous, ethanol and chloroform extracts of Tinospora cordtfolia leaves and sterns were investigated individually for in vitro antibacterial activity by disc diffusion method against Escherichia coli, Proteus vulgaris, Enterobacter faecalis, Salmonella typhi, Staphylococcus aureus and Serratia marcescens. The highest antibacterial activity was found in ethanolic leaf extracts. Its showed the greater activity against E. coti and Proteus vulgaris and satisfactory results against other test bacteria. The preliminary results of this study indicate that the leaf extracts have potential of antibacterial activity.
