Abstract

The present study was carried out to investigate the influence of organic fertilizers and vermiwash spray on growth, yield and quality attributes of Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.) at farmer’s field of Bharatpur-12, Radhakrishna Tol, Chitwan, Nepal. The experiment was formulated with soil application of FYM (10 and 20 t/ha), Vermicompost (5 and 10 t/ha) and Vermiwash (foliar spray after 30 DAS) and their combinations with three replications under randomized block design. Among all the treatments, T7 (Vermicompost 5 t/ ha + Vermiwash 4 spray at 1 week interval after 30 DAS) performed sound in growth, yield attributing traits and recorded highest values viz. plant height (126.46 cm), number of branches (3.07), number of leaves (21), number of nodes (18.67), intermodal length (7.96 cm), number of fruits/plant (17.55), fruit length (16.99cm), fruit girth (7.28 cm), average fruit weight (18.52 g), fruit yield /plant (317.75 g) and fruit yield/ha (116.95 q) whereas the number of days taken for 50% flowering and number of days taken for first fruit harvest were significantly reduced with values 42.22 days and 43.33 days respectively. However, crude protein content (%) and crude fiber content (%) were found statistically non-significant.
