EFFECT OF VEHICULAR EXHAUST ON AEROFUNGI IN THE DISTRICT PAPUM PARE, ARUNACHAL PRADESH

PADMANABH DWIVEDI

Abstract

The effect of vehicular exhaust on aerofungi was studied at different sites in the district Papum Pare, Arunachal Pradesh. A great variation in the fungi isolated from these sites was noticed. The maximum fungi (in terms of colonies count) were recorded at Capital complex, Itanagar followed by Naharlagun and Nirjuli. At all these sites the major group of fungi found belonged to Aspergillus, a pathogenic fugus. The number of fungal species was found to increase with the rise in vehicular exchaust (traffic load) at the sites investigated.
