Abstract

A pot experiment was conducted in the summer season of 2000 at Aligarh to evaluate the impact of sewage and thermal power plant wastewater on physiomorphology and yield of black gram (Vigna mungo L. Hepper) variety PU 19. Wastewater application promoted growth, nitrate reductase activity, total chlorophyll contents, leaf nitrogen content and seed yield per plant as compared to ground water treated plants. Physico-chemical characteristics of both the wastewaters met the prescribed irrigation quality requirements and were within the permissible limits of Indian standards.
