Abstract
The field experiment was conducted during the Rabi season of 2023-24 at the Crop Research Centre, School of Agriculture, ITM University, Gwalior, (M.P.) to investigate the effect of nitrogen and sulphur levels on productivity and profitability of linseed. The experiment consists of three levels of nitrogen (40, 80, and 120 kg N ha-1) and three levels of sulphur (30, 40, and 50 kg S ha-1), and absolute control was laid out in a factorial randomized block design with three replications. The results revealed that the application of 120 kg N ha-1 recorded significantly higher number of bolls plant-1, number of seeds boll-1, test weight, seed yield, straw yield, biological yield and harvest index, being at par with 80 kg N ha-1 and followed by 40 kg N ha-1. Among the sulphur levels, the application of 50 kg S ha-1 recorded significantly higher number of bolls plant-1, number of seeds boll-1, test weight, seed yield, straw yield, biological yield and harvest index, being at par with 40 kg S ha-1 and followed by 30 kg S ha-1. Among all the treatment combinations, T6- 80 kg N and 40 kg S ha-1 (N2 S2) recorded maximum value of gross return, net return and benefit-cost ratio.
