Abstract

Amylase production and its optimization has been studied in Bacillus licheniformis SK-32. The optimum pH and temperature were found to be and 37°C respectively. Various carbon and nitrogen sources were tested to obtained maximum amylase production. The strain requires few nutritional supplements and shows induction in the presence of starch and ammonium nitrate. The stability of the enzyme has also been tested at wide range of pH and temperature.
