Abstract
The present study deals with the isolation, identification and characterization of a few microorganisms from two victims of throat infection. The most predominant microorganisms were identified as Streptococcus, Neisseria, Staphylococcus, Bacillus and Pediococcus species in the order. A few bacterial isolates were characterized biochemically and some of their virulence contributors such as amylase, protease, haemolysis, tryptophanase, urease, antibiotic sesitivity were studied. The amylase, protease productions ranged between 0 - 280 j.ig/mL and 178-536 ug/mL with a maximum production by Bacillus and Staphylococcus species respectively. These results clearly indicate that these virulence factors are responsible for pathological status of the victims.
