Survey work was done during April 2005 regarding the used of rice ethno pharmacologically. Four important varieties were found to be used ethno pharmacologically for treating nine ailments of human being. Rice is used for treating even dog bite in this state. Most important and widely mentioned medicinal rice of this state were Chahou and chahou poireiton. Among the four varieties three were of high protein type and one was exceptionally high in oil content. Higher protein content might be contributing to the medicinal properties.
