DERMATOPHYTES FROM SOIL SAMPLES IN KHAMMAM DISTRICT

Abstract

Derma tophytoses in Khammam district was observed to be high (63.9%) among the agricultural labourers living in rural areas. Soil samples from 25 villages were collected from four specific sites viz. Crop field, hut and poultry farms in each village. The incidence of dermatophytes varied with regional climatic conditions and place of soil collection. Among the four sites the fungal, prevalence was more at cattle fields followed by crop fields. Trichophyton simii very frequently appeared in the soils near poultry farms.
