Abstract
The impact of effluent use in agriculture on socio-economic status was studied in industrial belt of Gujarat from Nandesari to jambusar, where farmers intercept effluent water for the last two decades from the effluent channel for irrigation purpose as no good quality of water is available in this area. They have reported the ill effects of the use of the industrial effluents on soil, crops and human as well as animal health. The productivity of crops was below the normal productivity mainly due to development of salinity besides ill effects of effluents use in agriculture. However, few farmers take care to minimize the hazardous effects on soils and crop productivity.
