Abstract

The investigation entitled, "Phosphorus Economy through the use of 'P' solubilizing culture in rearlmilletPigeonpea Intercropping System" was conducted at the Post Graduate Institute Farm, Nlahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri during kharif 1997. The experiment comprising of 18 treatment combinations with three replications comprising three cropping systems (sole pearlmillet, sole pigeonpea and inter- cropping of pearlmillet - pigeonpea ( 2 : 1), three phosphate levels (50, 75 and 100 per cent n-corn mended dose of P,05) in main plots and two `P' solubilizer inoculation treatment (uninoculated and inoculated with 'P' solubilizer) in subplots were arranged in a split plot design. The results revealed that the pearl m illet based pigeonpea intercropping system with application of 100 per cent recommended dose of P,O, ha-' with 'P' solubilizer by receiving grain yield (28.37 q he of peralmillet and 12.17 q ha of pigeonpea and fodder (34.04 q he of pearlmillet) and stick yield (41.62 q ha-' of pigeonpea) was maximum and significantly more due to 100 per cent RD of P,05 than rest of phosphorus levels. The net monetary returns (Rs.14891.00); B : C ratio (2.28), LER and pearlmillet grain equivalent yield (36.23 q he) were maximum with 100 per cent recommended dose of P203 he'
