Abstract

With rapid industrialization, urbanization and ever increasing population the demand for Construction commodities has increased tremendously. This shortfall in demand is being fulfilled by unplanned and unscientific industrial activities. The present study is aimed at the investigation carried out during stone crushing activities. The anmbient air quality monitoring was carded out with a view to establish baseline air quality in the study area and to monitor the level of dustribution on the leaf surfaces and its subsequent response tor chlorophyl I content, relative water content, dust holding holding capacity and its impact on leaf wash pH.A significant decrease in RWC was noticed in Mulltingia cakibura, which showed inaximum dust holding capacity. Maximum decrease in chlorophyll content was observed in Termina chebula. The result also indicates that dust pollution on different plant species studied varies depending upon the leaf size, structureYepidermal and cuticular features, sufface texture of leaves, height and canopy of trees. An attempt is also made to suggest the approptiate management plans to combat specific ambient air quality problems and to evaluate and formulate pollution control strategies using.
