Abstract

High concentration of fluoride causes health hazards which is noticed in the study area. Increase in fluoride level leads to dental and skeletal fluorosis, whereas the decrease of the same leads to dental caries.Water samples were analyzed for various parameters like pH, Electrical conductance,Total dissolved solids,Alkalinity,Total hardness, Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphates, Sodium and Potassiurn. The maximum fluoride ion concentration analyzed was 6.2 mg/L and minimum I .2 mg/L.The concentration of fluoride was beyond the permissible limits in all the samples analyzed. Suggestions have been made to ameliorate the adverse effect by incorporating various defluoridation techniques.
