BIOCHEMICAL CHARACTERIZATION OF FRUITING BODIES OF PLEUROTUS SPECIES ON DIFFERENT AGROWASTES

A.S. Deshmukh and A.S. Patil

Abstract

Four oyster mushroom species viz P. florida, P. flabellatus, P. sapidus and P. sajor-caju were grown on four different substrates Triticum aestivum, Phaselous radiatus, Cajanus cajan and Glycine max with their fifteen combinations. The biological efficiency was not significantly varied but was found highest for P. sajorcaju in W+M+T+S (85%), followed by P. flabellatus W+M+T+S (74.61%), P. florida T+M (73.17%) and P. sapidus M+T+S (67.73%), combinations. However analysis of the dehydrated fruiting bodies of these Pleurotus species shows relevant differences in nutritional contents. It was also found out that the combinations of agrowaste had the influence on Biological efficiency as well as biochemical contents of fruiting bodies.
