Abstract
Larvae of the two brachyuran crabs Parasesarma plicatum and Nanosesarma (Beanium) batavicum were exposed to different test salinities (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 ppt). Optimum salinity for zoeal development of both species was 25 ppt. Optimum salinity for megalopa of P. plicatum was 10 ppt whereas that of N. (B). batavicum was 25 ppt. Survival of megalopa of both species was 100% in all test salinities but the duration of development increased with increase in test salinities.
