Abstract
The level of 5-hydroxy tryptamine in the pooled ten samples of the brain regions of Oreochromis mossambicus during quinalphos, phenthoate and their combined treatment for 96 hr showed an increase when compared to control except at 72 and 96 hr in the cerebellum of quinalphos treatment and the'analysis of 5-hydroxy indole acetic acid (5-H1AA), though it showed decrease at 24 hr, revealed increase at 96 hr in the quinalphos treatment except in dien/mesencephalon. The phenthoate and the combined treatment increased the 5-H IAA level only in the cerebral hemispheres and dien/mesencephalon. The metabolizing enzyme, rnonoamine oxidase, was also increased significantly (p < 0.05) in its activity at various intervals in all treatments.
