Abstract
Rural landscape is a mosaic of natural and human managed patches and studies relating to disturbance, land Use planning, description of landscape complexity, can be effectively achieved through remote sensing data. In the present study an attempt has been made to quantify dominance and diversity of various cover types derived from IRS-1C LISS-III satellite data. Dominance of the cover types ranged from 0.21 to 0.84 and landscape heterogenity ranged from 0.14 to 0.78. The higher value of dominance has been attributed to equitable distribution of cover types and higher values of heterogenity to human induced disturbance factors.
