ALLELOPATHIC EFFECTS OF LANTANA CAMARA L. ON CHICKPEA.

P. Oudhia

Abstract

Allelopathic effects of Lantana camara L. on chickpea were investigated. Root, stem, leaf and shoot of Lantana comara L. were allowed to decay for 120, 168, 216 and 264 hours in normal water in the ratio of 1:10 w/v of plant material and water. At 11 DAS (Days After Sowing), root, stem, leaf and shoot extract of 264 hours and shoot extract of 120 hours resulted in maximum germination. Stem extract of 120 hours lowered the germination to the minimum. Shoot extract of 264 hours showed negative allelopathic effect on shoot elongation. Maximum root length was noted under stem extract of 264 hours.
