IMPACT OF TEMPERATURE ON SURVIVA PERIOD AND RATE OF MORTALITY OF THE PESTIFEROUS SLUG LAEVICAULIS ALTO (FERUSSAC) (SOLEOLIFERA VERONICELLIDAE)

A. Panigrahi

Abstract

Experimental studies on impact of temperature on survival period and rate of mortality of pestiferous slug Laevicaulis alte (Ferussac) revealed that newly hatched individuals were unable to withstand against constant 10, 15 and 35°C temperatures for more than I 1, 19 and 6 days respectively. Hundred percent, 70% and 50% individuals died respectively at 30,20 and 25°C temperatures within one year. Under room temperature (12.7- 36.9°C) 60% slugs died within the same period. The study would be helpful to ascertain the distribution range and population pattern of the pestiferous slugs L alte.
