Abstract

Allelopathic effects of leachates and extracts of different parts of an obnoxious weed Parthenium hysterophorus on germinaton and seedling vigour of selected crops viz. Moong, Urd, Kodo, Kutki, Groundnut and Hybrid rice were studied. The leachates and extracts produced significant allelopathic effects on germination and seedling vigour of selected crops. In this study, Parthenium leaf leachate I : I 0 and I : 15 w/v (weed material and water) were found beneficial to germination and seedling vigour of Hybrid rice. Partheniurn leaf extract I : 10 and Parthenium shoot extract were identified as most harmful extracts.
