Abstract
Effluent degrading organisms were isolated and identified from the match factory effluent. Then the isolates were purely cultured and maintained at 4°C. With out any additional nutrients, the potential isolates were inoculated in the effluent and incubated for 25 days. Physico - chemical analysis and Spectrophotometer analysis were initially carried out to estimate the amount of chemicals present in the collected effluent and also at 5 days interval for 25 days during the treatment process. Intermittent biochemical and staining reactions were also carried out to check the purity of the culture during the process. At the end of the treatment process when the change in the parameters were compared, it was found that treatment was effectively carried out by Pseudomonas sp followed by fungal isolate Mucor sp.Thus, this study proved that the treatment of the effluent was carried out successfully by both bacteria and fungal isolates only with the natural organic source present in the match factory effluent without any additional nutrients.
