A STUDY ON THE PHOSPHORUS OF THE RIVER KALI, AROUND DANDELI, KARNATAKA, INDIA

S.R. Krishna Murthy and S.G. Bharati

Abstract

The concentration of phosphorus in the river Kali ranged from traces to 0.255 mg. 1-'. The high values of phosphorus is due to entry of domestic and industrial wastes into the river Kali particularly at S. sampling station. The impact of domestic wastes and also industrial wastes on phosphorus was also emphasized. An attempt is also made to correlate between the values of phosphorus and the dissolved organic matter, total iron and total nitrogen content of the river water.
