ENDANGERED WILDLIFE FAUNA OF MANIPUR

Abstract

Manipur is a small hilly state in the north-eastern corner of India. It has an unique feature in the richness and variety of its endangered wildlife as evident Iron) the ■ast extension of its hill areas covering about 92% of the total area of the state. and 78% forest cover. Certain investigations has been carried out to study the wild life fauna of the state. A number of rare, threatened. endangered and extinct animal species from the wild life fauna or the state along with their status including 1 species of amphibia, 8 species of reptiles, 42 species of ayes. 41 species mammals and 13 species of ayes. 2 species of mammals have been reported in this paper.
