Abstract
Visakhapatnam district is constituted of hilly terrains, sprawling plains and enthralling coastline. It has a good number of fresh water bodies that are situated throughout the length and breadth of the district and contributing to a an array of fresh water fish fauna. The present work gives us an idea of the transgression of fresh water fishes of Visakhapatnam together with their range of distribution. Altogether 53 species of fishes belonging to 33 genera falling in 6 orders have been identified and their ecological adaptations to their habitat of occurrence have also been described.
