Abstract
The present paper deals with the study of seasonal variations in phytoplankton community for Sirur darn water during the year 2001 to 2002. The qualitative and quantitative analyses of phytoplankton community were carried out. The phytoplankton groups such as Chlorophyceae, Bacillariophyceae Cyanophyceae and Euglenophyceae and their species were recorded. About 43 phytoplankton species were recorded. The Chlorophyceae were found to be dominant through out the study.
