ALLELOPATHIC EFFECTS OF SELECTED LEAF EXTRACTS ON GERMINATION AND SEEDLING VIGOUR OF MEDICINAL CROP KASTURIBHENDI (ABELMOSCHUS MOSCHATUS MEDIC)

P. Oudhia

Abstract

Allelopathic effects of selected leaf extracts on germination and seeding vigour of medicinal crip Kasturibhendi (Abelmoschus moschotus rriediee) were investigated. Fresh samples of leaves of selected plants were selected. To prepare extracts, the crushed leaves were allowed to decay in water in the ratio of I : I .0 vv/ v. Kasturibhendi seeds were slaked in these extracts and obserations on germination and seedling vigour were taken. Different selected extracts produced significant allelopathic effects. psoralea and Acorus leaf extracts were identified as mot promising extracts fro promoting germination and seedling vigour whereas Jatropha leaf extract was identified as most harmful extract.
