B.K. BARLIAH AND NI. DAS

Abstract

The present investigation deals with the germination behaviour and seedling growth of rice seed Oryza swim, L. irrigated with Nagaon paper mill effluent. The study revealed delay, retard and decline in germination .of seeds and seedling growth in comparison to control. In treated soil, the germination was completed in three days with 71.0% germination whereas the germination was completed in two days with 83.5% germination in control soil. The root length and shoot length of young seedlings were recorded significantly decreased during the study period which indicated growth inhibiting effect.
