Abstract
The adsorption of Dihydric phenols-Catechol and Hydroquinone from aqueous solutions on Industrial Grade Granular Activated Carbon (IGGAC) has been investigated. Intraparticle Diffusion in the IGGAC pore structure is proposed as a mass transfer mechanism. Results indicate that rate parameters for macropore diffusion are higher than those of transitional and micropore diffusion. Intraparticle rate parameter 'k' is proposed and is correlated with initial Dihydric phenol concentration as a system variable.
