RESIDUE LEVEL OF MONOCROTOPHOS IN WATER CHESTNUT

Abstract

Monocrotophos, an organophosphorous insecticide, to control insect infestation in water chestnut by spraying the insecticide at fortnightly intervals and monitoring the residues in fruits. The results of the analysis indicated initial residue of 12.24 ppm in the plants after first spray which dissipated to 0.08 ppm within a forthnight after final spray. The residue of monocrotophos could not be detected in the fruits.
