Abstract

Plant Bacterial Diseases cause a major loss in the plants with medicinal and horticultural value. A bactericide 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,3-diol commonly known as Bronopol has been used to spray on plants having bacterial diseases or to prevent bacterial diseases. The flowers of the plant Catharanthus roseus Linn. have been used to study the effect of bactericide 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,3-diol on the germination of pollen grain. The present study reveals the reduction in pollen grain germination and pollen tube length with the use of bactericide 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,3-diol.
