ENVIRONMENTAL STATUS OF THE GANGASAGAR AND THE MURLIMANOHAR TANKS OF MADHUBANI, BIHAR (INDIA) WITH REFERENCE TO FISHERIES AND THEIR CONSERVATION

Abstract

Physico–chemical properties and status of fish and fishery of the Gangasagar and MurliManohar tanks of Madhubani, Bihar (India) were studied to assess the suitability of these tanks for pisciculture, The paper also deals in detail the myth about Pond, Tank and Pokhar. In Bihar Ponds, Pokhars and Tanks are an interchangable expressions. If these tanks are managed properly fish production may be easily enhanced.
