GASTRIC LESIONS IN EXPERIMENTAL FLUOROSIS

A. SHASHI

Abstract

Exposure of white albino rabbits to fluorides in the doses of 5, 10, 20 and 50 mg kg-1 body weight day-1 for fifteen weeks leads to formation of gastric lesions in the stomach. Fluoride removes the larger portion of gastric glands. The chief cells are more affected in comparison to parietal cells. Other histopathologic changes include necrosis of mucosal and submucosal layers, engorgement of blood vessels, broken tips of villi and gastric homorrhages in the stomach of fluoridated rabbits.
