Abstract
The present challenging experimental studies were conducted in 5 species of shrimps and 2 species of prawns under the laboratory condition. The results of present study revealed that all the species were susceptible to the WSSV. The clinical symptoms and histopathology of experimentally infected animals showed the infection similar to that of wild caught Penaeus monodon. The total mortality was observed during 5-6 d in shrimps fed with WSSV-infected tissue, 7-9 d in shrimps inoculated WSSV-infected faecal pellets and 13-15 d in shrimps fed with barnacles and Cerethedia cingulata meat experiment. The prawns were survived with the infection for 60 d without clinical symptoms.
