Abstract
Antibacterial effect of volatile components from various solvent extracts of Anosomeles indica, A. malabrica, Blumea lacera and Melia azadirachta against Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Serratia marcesens and Staphylococcus aureus have been studied by tube diffusion method. Acetone and methanol extracts of all plants showed strong antibacterial effect, whereas petroleum ether and aqueous did not exhibit any effect. P. aeruginosa and Se. marcesenes were relatively more sensitive.
