ISOLATION OF KERATINOPHILIC FUNGI AND RELATED DERMATOPHYTES FROM THE SOIL OF SAGAR (M.P.), INDIA

Abstract

Keeping in view the microbiological and pathological importance of keratinophilic fungi the present study was planned to find out their distribution in different localities of District Sagar (M.P.). For this the soil samples were collected from the poultry farms, near by the barber's shops, animal houses and from the hospitals neighbour hoods. During the survey of keratinophilic fungi and related dermatophytes in all 31 soil samples were collected from different localities of Sagar, District.These samples yielded a total of 34 species belonging to 16 different genera. The over all prevalence of keratinophilic fungi in different soil samples was 67.74%.
