Abstract

Lipases are produced by many microorganisms and higher eukaryotes. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a gram-negative soil bacterium which secretes lipolytic enzymes which are capable of degrading waste water contaminants such as olive oil from oil mills. In the present investigation transfer of lip gene was carried out from P.aeruginosa ATCC 27583 to E.coli and was successful and it could generate 350 transformant colonies from 18.5 ug of plasmid DNA.
