Abstract
Green tea is a drink prepared from the steamed or pan fried leaves of the plant Camellia sinessis, a shrub native to Asia. From the ancient time, this kind of tea is used for its medicinal properties. The main constituents of green tea are polyphenols which are generally considered as antioxidants. Catechins are the most active polyphenols in green tea shown to have anticarcinogenic and antibacterial properties.
