Abstract
Aflatoxicosis is found world wide, particularly in those countries with intense poultry production. In areas of intensive poultry production layer flocks, breeder flocks and broilers may become victims of aflotoxicosis. Aspergillus flavus, the rnycotoxic agent causing aflotoxicosis has increased infections and hypersensitivity diseases in broilers. The symptoms of aflotoxicosis are seemingly dependent on the immunological status of the experimental animal. The present investigation is centered on the study of protein and DNA levels in spleen of broiler chicks infected with Aflotoxin B1(AFB1). Four groups (A, B,C & D) of broilers were in tubateci with various doses of AFB1 orally. Broilers were necropsied at 1, 3, 8 and 11 days of infection and spleen was removed, weighed, homogenised and tissue samples were used for the estimation of protein and DNA content. The diagnostic results vividly confirm that AFB1 inducced varied changes in protein and DNA levels in spleen of all the experimental groups of broilers throughout the infection period.
